The Freshest View of All:
"Behold, I make all things new." Now that's a bold statement, but Jesus said it, and He doesn't tell lies. The feeling of being forgiven is a feeling beyond words. Yet God goes on to say that He'll take our sins, cast them into the deepest part of the ocean, and remember them no more.
How can He do that? He is a God of love. But He is also absolutely perfect. He is holy. NO sin can dwell in His presence. In other words, you'll have to be as perfect as God is to live with Him. That counts all of us out. We've sinned so often that most of us live hoping that the God we know to be real somehow doesn't exist. But He does, and we're not fooling anybody. We need help. Here's the Freshest View of All:
God loves you and me so much that He sent His son, Jesus the Messiah, into this dark world, bringing light, love, truth, healing, and finally paying the ultimate price--with His own life--for our forgiveness. "Whoever believes and relies on Me", He said, "will not perish but have everlasting life." He rose from the dead, and He wants to raise us up, too.
Think of the movies you've seen, the songs you've heard, the paintings or pictures of Jesus hanging on the cross. That has to do with you and me. We each have to deal with that image. The most liberating, powerful, joyful experience life has to offer begins with saying to the Lord, Thank you for suffering like that for me. I'm the guilty one, not You. Will You forgive me? Will You teach me how to follow You? Will You really make all things new for me? I can tell you from experience, His answer will be, "Yes." |
